October Pack Meeting: International Space Station Virtual Tour and Viewing Party

Research scientist and NASA-trained astronaut Gary Bostrup was invited to join our pack Zoom meeting on Oct 8th to talk about the International Space Station, the Space Shuttle program, doing scientific research in space, and answered some questions from our scouts. Gary showed us a photo of him doing near-zero gravity training aboard NASA’s Vomit Comet Boeing 707. Very impressive!

After the meeting, we went outside to watch the International Space Station passing above the Oak Park area. During the few minutes of the ISS pass, almost all the scouts could see the bright star-like spacecraft zipping through the night sky. We even used Ham radio equipment to capture its radio signature during the pass.
